The exhibition ‘Intersections’ brings together the works of 10 artists with different perspectives. The exhibition aims to discover how identities are shaped in society by combining the individual stories of the artists.
“Works of Different Artists Intersected”
Curator Fırat Arapoğlu explained the process of the exhibition as follows: “The exhibition was a project in which we thought about how the lives and careers of artists could come together. The title ‘Intersections’ shows how the works of artists can create differences and how they intersect when they come together. There are artists from different ages and materials. For example, we can see Aıda Mahmudova, who does abstract works, and Semih Zeki, who uses more architectural forms, together. The exhibition aims to make the audience experience different emotions.”
Personal Stories and Social Connections
Arapoğlu stated that each of the artists in the exhibition has a different story, and said, “Each artist has an individual story, but there is also a story that we all share socially. This exhibition aims to explore those intersections.”
“I Love Photographing Nature”
Lara Sayılgan, one of the artists participating in the exhibition, stated that she focuses on nature and unmanned spaces in her work, “I am a fashion photographer, but I like to take shots in nature without human traces. Natural environments offer me different stories. Sometimes I even question the stance of a rock.”
“Globalization Shapes Social Relations”
Artist Fatih Temiz explained his work on globalization and social relations with the words, “Globalization is a network that connects societies and cultures. This exhibition helps us understand how social relations are shaped and how they affect society.”
The Theme of Identity and Transformation
Artist Kibele Yarman deals with the subjects of identity and transformation in her work: “I wrote a text and created a piece about this text. A poisonous plant like the June plant tells how it transformed my identity. The images in this work represent the evolution of my identity.”
About the Exhibition
The exhibition ‘Intersections’ creates a space shaped by different perspectives and emotions in the art world. Art lovers can visit this unique exhibition until July 27 and step into the multifaceted world of contemporary art.
