At first glance, the artist’s works point to a visual universe constructed through everyday and familiar objects. However, a deeper examination reveals that these objects transform into symbolic structures carrying traumatic historical and psychological connotations. Objects such as dolls, plush bears, and children’s shoes are treated not as representations of feelings of protection, security, and belonging, but rather as remnants signifying the loss of these feelings. The objects are often placed within compressed, stacked, or suppressed compositions. In this respect, instead of directly depicting the destruction and deaths caused by catastrophes, the traces left behind after a “done and dusted” disaster are portrayed. In the artist’s works, the catastrophe is not presented as a dramatic event, but is constructed indirectly through objects, bodies, and fragments of memory. In this context, Ayhan’s works are directly related to the critique of anthropocentrism, which is central to discussions of the Anthropocene. Non-human entities—especially bird figures—are positioned in the artist’s visual universe not only as representations of nature but also as witnesses and carriers of memory of the destruction caused by human activities. These figures imply an idea of nature that can continue to exist even in the absence of humans; while at the same time pointing to the indelible traces left by humans.Exhibitions and Events; March 27, 2024 - Talk on Art, A Study on Contemporary Art and the Anthropocene (Project Workshop Presentation) May 26, 2024 - Solo Exhibition Habitat (Solo Exhibition) March 27, 2024 - Solo Drawing Exhibition (Solo Exhibition)Selected Group Exhibitions; December 24-28, 2025 Visual Resistance: Art for Palestine International Group Exhibition December 10, 2025 Strengthening Democracy Culture and Human Rights Awareness Project Painting Exhibition in Karabük (Exhibition Award) December 6, 2025 – February 28, 2026 Impressions from Anatolia 5th Period Exhibition December 1-31, 2025 “BUMP” Balıkesir University International Mail Print Series V November 17 - December 12, 2025 Yaşar Kemal «The Birds Have Gone Too» International Mail Art Project Exhibition October 21 – November 21, 2025 Balıkesir University International Mini Works Exhibition August 15 – September 20, 2025 Walking in Moon Dust Exhibition/İBB Taksim Art July 1 – August 1, 2025 – Painting ASD and Art and Design USA Graduate Students Group Exhibition June 6, 2025 – International Exlibris Competition Varna Exhibition (Exhibition Award) June 4, 2025 – 12th PonART Painting Competition Exhibition Award 2025 – GESAM Respect for Work and Labor Painting Competition Exhibition Award November 28 – December 27, 2024 “BUMP” Balıkesir University International Mail Print Series IV November 27 – December 1, 2024 BASE/ What Does Art Do?
