    • Birgül Özçelikci Taşören Kimdir? (1969-Ankara)Birgül Özçelikci Taşören was born in Ankara. She graduated from the Department of Painting at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts in 2000. In 2002, she worked for 5.5 years as a lecturer at Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, Division of Art Teaching. In 2007, she began working as a tenured Visual Arts Teacher under the Ministry of National Education. Since 2010, she has been continuing her career at Kocaeli Fine Arts High School.The artist has held 9 solo exhibitions and has participated in many group exhibitions both nationally and internationally during and after her education. She was selected for exhibition six times in the Şefik Bursalı Painting Competition. Her works were officially exhibited at the “20th Istanbul Art Fair – Artist 2010” at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center. Her artworks are included in the collections of the Rectorate of Cumhuriyet University in Sivas, the İnönü University Museum in Malatya, Kandemir Insurance in Kocaeli, and the Çankaya Municipality Contemporary Arts Center.In 2017, she completed her master’s degree at Gazi University, Institute of Fine Arts, Department of Composite Arts, under the supervision of Prof. Nur GÖKBULUT, with a thesis titled “Processing and Exemplifying the Theme of Ballet with a Postmodernist Approach”. In the same year, she contributed as one of the authors of the textbooks “Basic Art Education 9” and “Imaginative Painting 10”, prepared by the Ministry of National Education for Fine Arts High Schools.In 2019, under the coordination of the Ministry of National Education’s General Directorate of Teacher Training and Development, she served as a guidance teacher for Kocaeli Fine Arts High School students in the illustration of Turkish fairy tales titled “Cırrık”, “Sabır Taşı”, “Kaplumbağa Yavrusu” and “Altmış Akıllı Yetmiş Fikirli”, to be used in primary and preschool education. In 2020, she illustrated the Dede Korkut story “The Plundering of Salur Kazan’s House”, also for high schools, under the same directorate.She began the Proficiency in Art Program in the Department of Plastic Arts at Kocaeli University, Institute of Social Sciences, in 2021, and took a break from it in 2024. Between 2016 and 2023, she served as a subject expert and head of the commission for the “Basic Art Education 9” textbook within the Visual Arts Textbook Commission of Fine Arts High Schools, under the Ministry of National Education’s General Directorate of Teacher Training and Development.Currently, she continues to teach at Kocaeli Fine Arts High School and carries on her painting practice at her own studio (Atölye BİTA), while also participating in national and international exhibition organizations. She is also a member of the Istanbul Ex-libris Association.
