  • Nilgün Keskin Şener (1972-Eskişehir)Nilgün Şener graduated from the Department of Art Education, Department of Painting, at Anadolu University’s Faculty of Education between 1989 and 1994. She completed her master’s degree in Art Education at the Anadolu University Institute of Social Sciences between 1996 and 1998, with a thesis titled “The Effects of Regionalism on Painting” under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Numan Arslan. She completed her thesis titled “Balance in Visual Expression” at the Anadolu University Institute of Social Sciences’ Department of Painting between 1998 and 2004, under the guidance of Prof. Abdullah Demir. Şener continued her undergraduate studies in printmaking with Prof. Atilla Atar during her master’s degree. During her Master’s degree, she also studied lithography at Atilla Atar’s studio. She participated in exhibitions and competitions in printmaking.Between 1994 and 2004, she worked as an art teacher in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Nilgün Şener began teaching at Kocaeli University’s Değirmendere Ali Özbay Vocational School in 2004. She became an assistant professor in 2006, an associate professor in 2018, and a full professor in 2025. Throughout this period, she has served as an assistant director, department head, and commission member. She serves on juries and scientific and art boards for symposiums, congresses, workshops, and competitions. Şener has authored numerous research articles, book chapters, and proceedings in her field and areas of interest. She has also served as a curator and consultant for fairs, congresses, symposiums, workshops, and events both domestically and internationally. She also organized Turkey’s first virtual art fair and has participated in 15 solo, nearly 450 group, mixed, invited, domestic, international, national, and international exhibitions. In 2017, she served as the editor of the textbooks “Basic Art Education 9” and “Imaginative Painting 10” to be taught in Fine Arts High Schools run by the Ministry of National Education. Between 2016 and 2023, she worked at the Ministry of National Education, General Directorate of Teacher Training and Development, Fine Arts High School Visual Arts Book Commission, and as the editor of the book “Basic Art Education 9,” which began teaching in 2023. The artist, winner of two national and three international awards (one third place and two second place awards at the Busan International Art Festival in South Korea), has works in private and public institutions and museums. She continues her work in her studio.
