  • Canan Aydoğmuş (1972–Sivas)A Painter Who Transposes Childhood Memories and Vanishing Anatolian Houses onto CanvasLife; Canan Aydoğmuş was born in Divriği in 1972. She completed her higher education at the Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. Although she received professional training in the field of medicine, her interest in painting—nurtured since childhood—remained a significant part of her life. She began to approach her artistic endeavors more systematically in 2011. From that time on, she took painting lessons from artist Mehmet Emin Özer at the Amedus Art Studio in Ankara and continued her work there. The artist focused particularly on the oil painting technique and an Impressionist approach to painting.A notable aspect of Canan Aydoğmuş’s artistic career is the parallel pursuit of medicine and art. The observational skills gained through her medical training and her sensitivity to detail in painting are evident in her approach to subjects such as old houses, architectural surfaces, and objects of daily life.Throughout her artistic career, Aydoğmuş has participated in 47 group exhibitions, including those associated with social responsibility projects. Twelve of these were national or international art events. Her participation in organizations such as the ArtAnkara Contemporary Art Fair, Art Contact Istanbul, IAAF Istanbul, and the Artist Istanbul Art Fair demonstrates that her artistic output is not limited to exhibitions based solely in Ankara. The artist is a member of the United Painters and Sculptors Association (BRHD). She is also a board member of ANKÜSAD. Canan Aydoğmuş continues her work today, keeping alive—through her canvases—the nostalgic values of her childhood, the warmth of village and small-town houses on the verge of disappearing, traces of bygone lifestyles, and the small details of everyday life.
