Vedat Örs's "Figures" Solo Exhibition, organized in Ankara to bring art to art lovers, has opened. Curated by Berna Demirhan, the exhibition will be on view at Timora Art from November 22nd to December 13th, 2025.

In the artist's early works, the archaic symbols he carved onto surfaces reminiscent of cave walls touch upon the oldest sparks of human consciousness. They evoke connections with nature and symbolic forms of expression. Over time, these symbols are replaced by the "Mother Goddess," a cult figure of Anatolian culture. Örs treats this mythological image as an archetype representing the continuity of feminine existence and creation. Over the years, archetypal forms evolve. They interact with the essence of existence, the source of life, and cyclical continuity, thus aligning with the simplest teachings of Zen philosophy. Accordingly, a figure acquires meaning through the void that creates it, and this void is not nothingness but, like the wu defined by Tao, a creative potential nourishing all possibilities. The artist allows the form to flow, and this is the visual equivalent of acting in harmony with Tao.
Vedat Örs was born in Uşak in 1961. After graduating from Ankara University's Faculty of Agriculture in 1984, he completed a master's degree in viticulture. Interested in art since childhood, the artist finally decided to pursue painting in 1988 and pursued self-improvement in this field.
He held his first solo exhibition at the Akbank Farabi Art Gallery in 1991. The artist, who held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in many locations across Turkey, including Ankara, Istanbul, Mersin, and Bodrum, was awarded an honorable mention in the Adana Cement Painting Competition in 1998. Between 2003 and 2006, he continued his artistic work in his Paris studio.

Actively pursuing his artistic work domestically, he has exhibited in cities such as New York, Paris, and Prague. He has participated in international workshops in Moldova and Pennsylvania with the Summart organization. The artist, who holds the position of President of the Artemis International Culture and Art Association, currently continues his artistic work in Istanbul. Abstracted human figures with primitive structures dominate his works. Consciously maintaining a sense of mystery in his works, the artist invites the viewer to active thought.
