Two exhibitions, "2025 Family Year: A Selection from the Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum Collection" and "Home State," were opened at the Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum in honor of the 'Year of the Family' 2025.
In recognition of the Presidency's declaration of this year as the 'Year of the Family,' the General Directorate of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism presented the exhibition "2025 Family Year: A Selection from the Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum Collection" at the Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu Exhibition Hall of the Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum. The exhibition, which features 41 works from the museum's collection, featured Cemal Tollu's 1943 work "Vineyard Harvesting," Celile Hanım's 1941 work "Water Drinking Efe," Bedri Rahmi Eyüpoğlu's 1955 work "Peasant Woman with Child," Sırrı Divil's 1971 work "Our Women," and Celal Tutant's oil on canvas.
The exhibition, "Home State," opened in the Mihri Müşfik Exhibition Hall. The exhibition, organized jointly by the General Directorate of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Advanced Technical Schools of the Ministry of National Education's General Directorate of Lifelong Learning, depicted a home-like atmosphere, transformed into a living space using the work of the Advanced Technical Schools.
"THESE ACTIVITIES WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR"
Fine Arts General Director Ömer Faruk Belviranlı stated that they have prepared a special exhibition in conjunction with the Ministry of National Education to commemorate the Year of the Family. He said, "We have prepared a very special exhibition, both here and downstairs in the Mihri Müşfik Temporary Exhibition Hall, as well as in this main hall of our Painting and Sculpture Museum, to present to interested parties the beautiful works that represent family, the love of the heart, the unity of the family, the greatness of the family, and the passion of the family. These works, which are in the inventory and storage of our State Painting and Sculpture Museum, are being presented to the public today. In this sense, the General Directorate of Fine Arts, as it has done throughout the year, continues its activities in the visual arts, music, and performing arts to emphasize the unity of family and the family's regular contribution to life. These activities will continue until the end of the year."
Hüseyin Kendirci, Deputy Director General of Lifelong Learning, emphasized that the Ministry of National Education has been carrying out numerous family-related initiatives since 2025 was declared the "Year of the Family," saying, "Today, we visited one of these together: our 'Home State' exhibition. Here, we conducted a workshop prepared by our vocational training institutes, showcasing how a family lives as a whole, from the living room to the kitchen, from the kitchen to the bathroom, and from the bathroom to the bedroom. We have 30 vocational training institutes in total. The products prepared by our institutes, including exquisite embroidery, quilts, chests, containers, food sets, and dinnerware, are all on display here. Of course, preserving and ensuring the continuation of Turkish culture, tradition, and civilization is very important to us. Our vocational training institutes also have a similar vision and mission. Today, we can actually see this mission here."
A 1941 painting by Nazım Hikmet's mother, Celile Hanım, titled "Efe Drinking Water," is being exhibited for the first time.
