The "Rewind/Slovenia" painting exhibition, featuring works by Turkish and Slovenian artists, opened to art lovers at CerModern.

The exhibition, featuring works by Hakan Esmer, Serdar Leblebici, Özgür Eryılmaz, Semih Kaplan, and Slovenian artists Ive Subic and Maja Subic, reflects the artists' observations, shared creative experiences, and cultural interactions across diverse geographies through works on canvas, paper, and various surfaces.

Exhibition curator Erkan Doğanay told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that the project was a collaborative effort initiated by four Turkish artists.

Doğanay stated that the artists aim to represent Türkiye in different countries, saying, "They've embarked on various travel series to connect Türkiye with other countries and geographies. Last year, we launched the first of these in Rome, also at the same venue. This year, it continues in Slovenia."

Doğanay explained that the artists made observations in Slovenia, adding, "They transferred their observations and projections of the region to various materials and surfaces. As a result, they transformed them into large canvases in their own studios and prepared this exhibition."

Doğanay emphasized the importance of cultural interaction, saying, "Art is the easiest way to facilitate this intercultural exchange, dialogue, and to get to know people you don't know. With this project, our friends are introducing us to cultures we don't actually know."

Doğanay noted that the exhibition includes nearly 120 works, adding, "There are works created in a wide variety of styles, from oil and watercolor to gouache and charcoal."

Erkan Doğanay also announced that a book launch related to the exhibition will be held in December.

"We wanted to build new friendships and artistic bridges"

Artist Hakan Esmer, discussing the project's history, explained that the process began when he traveled to Slovenia in 2017 for another project.

Esmer stated that the relationships he formed with the Subic family, whom he met there, shaped the exhibition. He added that the exhibition also includes a selection of Maja Subic's own works and works by Ive Subic's father.

Hakan Esmer noted that these works are accompanied by works by four Turkish artists.

Esmer said the project will expand to new countries, saying, "In the future, we have established connections with Rewind Spain, Rewind Nuremberg, and Rewind Stockholm."

Esmer emphasized that they prioritize building new friendships and artistic bridges through international collaborations beyond the studio, and that such projects should increase.

The "Rewind/Slovenia" exhibition will be open to the public until the end of December.
