Art Perspective;
Tuğba Renkçi Taştan is an artist who adopts an investigative and experimental approach, nourished by different disciplines such as painting, installation, collage and assemblage in her art practice. Experimentation is at the core of her work; because art is not only a means of expression for her, but also a field of discovery. While concerns about today’s world and the future, the human condition and cultural transformations are addressed in her works, everyday issues are processed through the artist’s emotional filter. Themes such as home, culture, heart, crow and abstract art frequently come to the fore in her productions.
The artist’s multi-layered collage-paintings direct the viewer to look at life, urban life and individual experiences from her own perspective. The objects she collects from everyday life take their place in her works as a cabinet of memories. This layer sometimes remains hidden like the subconscious, and sometimes it surfaces and becomes visible. In the layers built upon it, basic human emotions such as life energy, hope, despair and danger are combined with abstract and surreal images.
Her life, which has recently become intertwined with nature, has also been reflected in her art; the forms of houses and nature in her paintings have become more apparent. The constant transformation of colors and forms gives her art a lively and variable structure. The textures she creates from collages, non-art objects, different mediums and texts, create an original language of expression. Feeding on Robert Rauschenberg’s Combine Painting approach, the collages of cubist artists and the striking colors of pop art, Taştan blends this artistic heritage with the images of contemporary life.
Tuğba Renkçi Taştan brings together different techniques without adhering to a specific pattern, with an approach that prioritizes autonomy and experimentation in art. The artist, who sees each of his works as the product of an internal discovery process, aims to establish a bridge between personal and universal themes by providing the expression of memory, emotions and thoughts in layers. His style is shaped by an understanding of “experimental freedom” that transcends boundaries; every idea, every object and every emotion can turn into a new narrative opportunity in his art.
