Hosted by Kepez Municipality as part of the March 8th International Women's Day celebrations, the “CROSS – At the Center of Women Across Disciplines” exhibition opened at the Dokumapark Modern Art Gallery with the participation of Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin.

An important exhibition bringing together the art world opened its doors in Antalya as part of the March 8th International Women's Day events. Hosted by Kepez Municipality and curated by Zübeyde Yavuz, the “CROSS – At the Center of Women Across Disciplines” exhibition brought together women artists from three different generations under one roof.

104 Works by 21 Artists

The exhibition, which opened at the Dokumapark Modern Art Gallery, explores the artistic reflections of the rights and freedoms gained by Turkish women in social life from the founding years of the Republic to the present day.

The exhibition, featuring 104 works by 21 female artists, offers an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together the artistic sensibilities of different generations on the same platform.

In her opening speech, the exhibition's curator, Zübeyde Yavuz, stated that the main aim of the project is to pay tribute to the historical and intellectual struggle of Turkish women through art.

Yavuz emphasized that women were empowered in social life thanks to the proclamation of the Republic and the vision of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and that with this exhibition, they aim to bring together female artists who have left their mark in different periods on a common ground.

Kocagöz: “Women are the future of a country”

Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz also expressed his pleasure at hosting such an exhibition on March 8th, International Women's Day.

Highlighting the importance of women's role in society, Kocagöz said:

“I am honored to open this exhibition, where discipline, experience, and thought are reflected on the canvases. Our women are everything to us. Women shape the future of a country in the fields of art, education, and science.”
