The 'Yaşamak Güzel Şey Be Kardeşim' exhibition organized by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of the 'Year of Nazım Hikmet' and the 'Nazım Hikmet Symposium at the Table of the Sun' begins on May 9.

The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which declared June 2024 - June 2025 as the 'Year of Nazım Hikmet', is opening an exhibition on Nazım Hikmet between May 9 and September 9. The exhibition, which takes its name from the novel 'Yaşamak Güzel Şey Be Kardeşim' written by Nazım Hikmet in 1962, consists of two parts in two different venues simultaneously.

In addition, a symposium titled 'Nazım Hikmet Symposium at the Table of the Sun' is being held on May 9-10. The symposium, the opening speech of which will be given by Murathan Mungan, will include papers on the works, life and years of the world poet Nazım Hikmet in Bursa Prison.

The first part of the exhibition is located in the Şefik Bursalı Art Gallery belonging to the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and has a documentary quality consisting of texts and visuals about Nazım Hikmet. This documentary section, which tells the story of Nazım Hikmet’s poetry, theater, novel, cinema and painting world, keeps his political side on the agenda, while also touching on his private life from his childhood and aims to establish connections between the dynamic movements of each area.

The majority of these works are placed in the exhibition space within the scope of the “Ahmet Merey Collection”.
