The Literature Gallery in Misi (Gümüştepe), established by Nilüfer Municipality to enrich the city's cultural life, opened its doors with the exhibition “Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu Lives On.” The exhibition, featuring paintings, poems, and archival documents of the painter and poet, was also presented at the Nâzım Hikmet Cultural Center.
Nilüfer Municipality, contributing to Bursa's cultural and artistic life, brought the Literature Gallery to the city with the “Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu Lives On” exhibition. The opening ceremony was attended by Nilüfer Mayor Şadi Özdemir, Nilüfer Deputy Mayor Okan Şahin, the curator, painter and academician Prof. Dr. Aydın Ayan (a student of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu at the Academy of Fine Arts), Gümüştepe Neighborhood Headman Haluk Balta, and art lovers.
Nilüfer Mayor Şadi Özdemir, in his opening speech, stated that the Literature Gallery has been added to the city as a new cultural venue. Expressing that Nilüfer Municipality has been meticulously preserving the historical fabric of Misi for years, Mayor Özdemir said, “We are restoring registered buildings and transforming them into cultural and artistic spaces. The Literature Museum was one of them. Our Literature Gallery, which opens today, is located directly opposite the museum. Here, we will prepare exhibitions of painters with ties to literature, and exhibitions of the year's most celebrated authors. Literature and painting will meet under this roof.”
Mayor Özdemir stated that the exhibition will showcase all aspects of the painter, writer, and poet Eyüboğlu, adding, “The exhibition also includes the artist's handwritten notes, letters, and poems. We would like to thank our curator Aydın Ayan, who provided us with the book titled ‘The Whole Tree: Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu Lives; A Life Dedicated to Art,’ and Associate Professor Meryem Uzunoğlu, who made significant contributions to every stage of the exhibition's preparation, as well as Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu's family.”
Curator Prof. Dr. Aydın Ayan stated that Misi is a special place and that art immediately comes to mind. Ayan noted that the exhibition, prepared for the 50th anniversary of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu's death, is the result of approximately nine months of work. He mentioned that there are a total of 64 works in the two exhibitions, adding, "Our exhibition, located in two venues – the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center and the Literature Gallery – will remain open until September 20th."
Following the speeches, Mayor Şadi Özdemir presented gifts to Aydın Ayan and Meryem Uzunoğlu.
