The "GAIA" exhibition, prepared by artists from the Independent Art Movement, opened in Istanbul. The exhibition, which opened its doors at the Beylikdüzü Atatürk Culture and Art Center, drew considerable attention from art lovers by exploring a theme extending from antiquity to Mesopotamia. The exhibition features 38 works, including five pieces each from the collection by Muzaffer Alper and Hikmet Uğurlu.
A HISTORICAL JOURNEY CONVEYED TO THE AUDIENCE
In the GAIA Exhibition, curated by Sevda Kesim, Founder of the Independent Art Movement, the historical journey from the first hand of humankind touching the cave wall on ATA ANA GAIA to Mesopotamia and the symbols of Göbeklitepe from 12,000 years ago is conveyed to the audience through the narrative language of art, as reinterpreted by Aynur Özbek, Fulya Erem, Mukadder Özdemir Balakoğlu, Reşide Burcu Talı, Derya Bardakçı, Mina Golzar, Müşerref Gönül Açar, Mehmet Budak, Nehir Göksel, Oksana Muraveva, and Mükerrem Özügüzel.
INTENSE INTEREST FROM ART LOVERS
The GAIA exhibition, coordinated by the Independent Art Movement in collaboration with the Beylikdüzü Neighbors Association, opened with a large turnout after speeches by Mukadder Özdemir Balakoğlu on behalf of the Independent Art Movement, Council Member Ali Rıza Der on behalf of the Beylikdüzü Municipality, Beykomder Board Chairman Osman Tezemir, and Beykomder Culture and Arts Commission Chairman Deniz Sütbeyaz.
The GAIA Exhibition will be open to visitors at the Istanbul Beylikdüzü Atatürk Culture and Arts Center from March 4-11, 2026.
