"Encounters," an independent art initiative that achieved great success at the Artists and Art Lovers Foundation (SASAV) Exhibition Hall in Istanbul, has reached its second stop in Urla district of Izmir. "Encounters II: Urla," curated by Ömer Aydın and M. Emir Fidan, opened on August 25th at the Urla Municipality Aryom Culture and Art Center.
44 ARTISTS COME TOGETHER IN THE SAME EXHIBITION
The exhibition features works from 44 artists representing diverse styles and disciplines, including painting, photography, sculpture, and installation. The exhibition will be open to visitors until September 6, 2026.
This independent project aims to bring together academics, participating artists, and independent artists in a shared exhibition space, creating a pluralistic environment where artists can interact while maintaining their differences, rather than uniting under the same aesthetic understanding.
“ENCOUNTERS” ARE MOVING TO DIFFERENT CITIES
Within the comprehensive framework of the project, the concept of “encounters” signifies not only the gathering of works in the same place but also the formation of a more permeable relationship between the academic art field and independent production, and the sequential exchange of different experiences.
With Istanbul as its permanent center, the initiative aims to develop a new, sustainable, and open structure among artists by expanding to different cities and systematic locations.
