The "Fashion and Painting / Mode et Peinture" exhibition, which opened to art lovers at Arkas Art Alsancak, has been extended until September 27, 2026.
The exhibition, which explores the transformation of European fashion from the early 19th century to the 1940s through painting, can be visited until September 27, 2026.
Bringing together works from the Arkas Collection and the French costume archive La Dame d'Atours, the exhibition focuses on the relationship between painting and fashion throughout history.
Period costumes brought back to life...
In the exhibition, the clothes featured in the paintings have been reproduced adhering to period techniques. Completed with antique accessories, the costumes offer visitors the opportunity to examine not only the history of fashion but also the historical and social background of the works.
The Transformation of European Fashion is Narrated
The exhibition explores the changes in European fashion from the influences of the Neoclassical period to the modern lines of the 1940s.
The new understanding that emerged with the rise of the bourgeoisie in men's clothing, and the defining elements of the period in women's fashion, such as crinolines and turquoise, are conveyed to visitors through paintings and costumes.
The "Intimacy" section of the exhibition examines the place of corsets and underwear in women's social status.

The exhibition is open every day except Mondays from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Thursdays from 10:00 to 20:00.
