Muse Contemporary Art Gallery, curated by Taner Yılmaz, has presented its group exhibition titled "The Body After Desire," specially prepared for the 2026 summer season, at Ruins Luxury Resort Bodrum. Opening with a reception on July 3rd, the exhibition will be open to visitors until September 15th, 2026.
Bringing together artists from different disciplines of contemporary art within a common conceptual framework, "The Body After Desire" re-examines the changing perception of the body in contemporary society at the intersection of technology, aesthetics, nature, and cultural memory. The selection, consisting of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photographs, and mixed media works, interprets the body not merely as a physical entity, but as a constantly changing, fragmenting, and reconstructing space of identity.
The exhibition's curator, Taner Yılmaz, expresses the selection's starting point with these words: "Today, the body is no longer merely a biological entity; it is a living memory space carrying the aesthetic, technological, and cultural transformations of our time. 'The Body After Desire' proposes a collaborative reading of this transformation through the works of artists from different disciplines. Our aim was to invite the viewer into a holistic narrative rather than focusing on individual works."
Establishing a strong connection with the architectural character of Ruins Luxury Resort, the exhibition treats the space not merely as an exhibition area, but as an integral part of the curatorial narrative. The hotel's atmosphere, which blends historical layers with contemporary living experiences, integrates with the exhibition's core concepts of transformation, memory, and reconstruction.
The exhibition features works by Alea Pınar Du Pre, Bahadır Hızol, Banafsheh Hemmati, Canan Savaş, Crystal Paris, Emin Mete Erdoğan, Gülşen Pazarbaşı, İlamm, Jeff Robb, Jono Toh, Kübra Doğu, Mahmut Aydın, Yasemin Vardarlılar, and Zeynep Koçan. Artists with diverse forms of expression come together around a shared curatorial approach to reinterpret the concept of the body through its aesthetic, psychological, and cultural layers.
This project also represents a new step in Muse Contemporary's long-standing collaboration with Ruins Luxury Resort. Following a summer exhibition held in the same venue four years ago, the gallery continues this collaboration with a new curatorial perspective, bringing contemporary art back to Bodrum's summer season.
"The Body After Desire," poised to become a significant stop on Bodrum's cultural and artistic route throughout the summer, transforms contemporary art into a natural part of the holiday experience, connecting visitors with artworks, the space, and new ways of thinking about the concept of the body.
