Taksim Sanat, a public exhibition space affiliated with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Culture Inc., has opened its doors to art lovers with its new exhibition, "In the Depths of the Surface," which focuses on the multi-layered nature of contemporary art. Curated by Deha Çun, the exhibition can be visited free of charge at Taksim Sanat until May 31st.
The "In the Depths of the Surface" exhibition, which opened its doors at Taksim Sanat, affiliated with IMM Culture Inc., treats the surface not only as the limit of what is visible, but also as a multi-dimensional space where traces, layers, and memory accumulate. The contemporary mixed exhibition, curated by Deha Çun, features a total of 60 works by 20 artists from different generations, including international artists.
The works in the exhibition make visible both the physical and intellectual depth of the surface through the relationships between form, material, color, and technique. Paint, paper, metal, wood, photography, and various industrial or organic materials form the building blocks of the dialogue established with the surface. Works from different disciplines come together around the meaning carried by the surface, offering the viewer a holistic experience.
“In the Depths of the Surface” focuses on the delicate balance between the visible and the invisible, pointing to the thought-provoking, emotionally evocative, and multiplying nature of art.
Commenting on the exhibition, İBB Culture Inc. General Manager Osman Cenk Akın said:
“We are delighted to host a new exhibition at our public exhibition space, Taksim Sanat. “In the Depths of the Surface” is a very special exhibition that invites the viewer not only to look, but also to see, feel, and become part of the experience. I believe that everyone who visits the exhibition will feel this depth. The selection of works by valuable artists from different generations brings together the diversity in production methods and languages of expression on a common ground. I invite art lovers to see our exhibition until May 31st.”
The exhibition's curator, Deha Çun, stated, “We are delighted to be a part of this valuable exhibition at Taksim Sanat. Our main goal was to bring together artists whose work is generally seen at fairs or private galleries in a public space. With 'In the Depths of the Surface,' we have brought together nearly 60 works by 20 artists from various disciplines, primarily painting and sculpture. The more it is viewed and shared, the more effective it becomes. We invite all art lovers, collectors, and artists to see this exhibition.”
