The exhibition consisting of the works of Mihri Rasim Müşfik Açba, one of the Turkish female painters, met with art lovers in Gaziantep, hosted by SANKO Park AVM. Exhibition Curator Dr. Necmi Sönmez stated that Gaziantep is a very important junction of Mesopotamia with its geographical structure and cultural richness, and said, "For this reason, it was very important for us to bring the exhibition to the art lovers of Gaziantep after Istanbul."


Explaining that the exhibition focuses on Mihri Müşfik's life, her artistic adventure and her contribution to the development of painting in Turkey, Dr. Sönmez said, "The informative documentary exhibition 'Mihri, one of the First Turkish Women Painters' painting exhibition aims to convey the struggle of the artist by advancing on her own path despite all the difficulties, in terms of history, social and women's rights advocacy."


Karcher Marketing Director Ece Eren said that they were very pleased to open the second exhibition in Gaziantep and to see the interest of art lovers.


In the documentary exhibition where 13 works are exhibited at SANKO Park, Painter Mihri's works, as well as her photographs, reproductions of her paintings, and the Istanbul art circle with which she is in contact are introduced.


Mihri Rasim Müşfik Açba is known as the first female painter to initiate contemporary painting in Turkey and especially for her portraits. Among the people whose portraits the painter painted are many important names such as Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Former United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and American Businessman Thomas Edison.


Painter Gülay Karslıgil, SANKO Schools Visual Arts Department Head Hatice Kanevetçi and Visual Arts Teacher Özlem Tanyeri and art lovers attended the introductory meeting of the exhibition.


"Mihri Müşfik Painting Exhibition" can be visited at SANKO Park AVM every day between 10.00-22.00 until May 17, 2024.
