The "Akbank Contemporary Artists Award" exhibition, featuring the works of 27 young artists selected by a jury, will be on display at Akbank Sanat's İstiklal Street building until July 31st.
The "Akbank Contemporary Artists Award" exhibition, one of Türkiye's most established events in contemporary art, is being presented to art lovers in its 43rd year in collaboration with the Akbank Art and Painting and Sculpture Museums Association. Curated this year by Ceren Erdem, the exhibition brings together the works of 27 young artists selected by a jury. The exhibition will be open to the public until July 31, 2025.
AN EXHIBITION CENTERED BY THE THEME OF FRIENDSHIP
The Akbank 43rd Contemporary Artists Award exhibition centers on the concept of "friendship," exploring the relationships artists form with nature and non-human beings. Curator Ceren Erdem commented on the exhibition's concept, saying, "In this exhibition, we consider friendship not merely an emotional bond but a vital form of organization. The desire to connect with nature and non-human beings is clearly evident in the submitted and selected works. The exhibition invites us to consider friendship as a political and ecological field of action, and to explore new paths of solidarity, sharing, and shared existence together."
Erdem also commented on the exhibition's preparation process, saying, "When creating this exhibition, we considered friendship as both a personal and collective form of existence. We wanted to make visible the sincerity and strength of the bonds we form with nature, animals, objects, and non-human beings. We consider friendship not merely a feeling but a way of establishing a different kind of relationship with the world and living together."
The exhibition, organized in collaboration with Akbank Art and Painting and Sculpture Museums Association, brings together the two institutions' mission to support young artists. Through this collaboration, the exhibition aims to reach a wider audience and increase the visibility of the young artists' works.
The 27 young artists whose works will be exhibited in the Akbank 43rd Contemporary Artists Award Exhibition are:
Dilara Altınkepçe Arslan, Bora Aşık, Ceren Aydoğdu, Dilruba Balak, İrem Bekmezci, Defne Cemal, Başak Çolak, Tuğba Demirbaş, Buse Elçi, Ömer Tevfik Erten, Hüseyin Güler, Zeynep Habiboğlu, İsmail İfşa, Özge Kahraman, Zeynep Kılınç, Begüm Malkoçlar, Betül Odabaşı, Selin Özçiftçi, Yeşim Özkan, Özge Öztürk Şimşek, Deniz Özuygur, Heper Sayar, İrem Sür, Sevgi Tunçbilek, Bengisu Üstay, Rüken Delal Yıldız, and Engin Deniz Zabcı.
