Who is Selçuk Aslan? (1974-Ankara)

Born in Ankara in 1974, Aslan received his Bachelor’s degree in 2000 from Uludağ University, Department of Fine Arts Education, taking courses in both Painting and Graphic Design; and his Master’s degree in 2006 from Hacettepe University, Institute of Social Sciences, Painting Department, Zafer Gençaydın Workshop, with his thesis titled “The Unconscious and the Power of Creation” under the supervision of Hasan Pekmezci.
The artist, who has held four solo exhibitions, has participated in more than seventy group exhibitions, art workshops in various cities, and numerous art fairs in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, and Bodrum. Furthermore, Selçuk Aslan, who won first prize in the National Painting Competition organized by the Elazığ Science and Art Center in 2022, has oil paintings in private collections and public institutions.
BUPS, Fine Arts High Schools, etc. Aslan, who has been teaching Visual Arts in educational institutions since 2000, also simultaneously does voiceovers for various private and public organizations. The artist continues his painting and sculpture work in his private studio in Ankara.

Artistic Perspective;
“Abstract” is not an ambiguity, but rather a multi-layered openness, a rather sharp challenge. It is also a daring encounter space for the viewer, as it offers everyone a richness of imagination where they can be alone with their own inner rhythm.
To conclude all the tensions carried by memory in harmony and to achieve a magnificent balance, it is necessary to avoid shying away from allowing colors to confront each other and using fierce lines and poetic transitions on the same surface. Red, with its boundless energy, screams in white spaces while grays calm it. Brown, which proclaims its dominion over nature with the pure support of many different shades of yellow, is most often caressed by purple, which, relying on the magnificence of its intuitive power, wounds it repeatedly. No color or form is a decorative element in abstract painting; Each one is an elegant part of an honorable struggle. Abstract art is the unique expression of existence. It emerges from the consciousness, weary of rationality, wandering in the treasure of the subconscious; from the artist’s exaltation of the concept of imagination amidst the unsettling and bland external reality.
