Who is Yaprak Kurtoğlu? (1976-Kahramanmaraş)Born in Kahramanmaraş in 1976, she graduated from Ankara Aydınlıkevler Anatolian High School. She then graduated from Anadolu University’s Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations in 2002. Unable to contain her childhood passion for painting, the artist ended her career and began painting at Nazlı Er’s Bahçem Art Studio in 2009. She then completed advanced painting training at Cezmi Orhan’s Studio at the Ankara Kum Art Center in 2011. She later established her own studio in 2015, where she continues to work.Artistic Perspective:Yaprak Kurtoğlu’s paintings establish a transitional space between abstract and figurative expression. Centered on an intuitive exploration of women’s inner worlds, the artist explores the visual reflection of emotions and experiences. Her works are characterized by layered surfaces, fragmented forms, and a strong use of color. While exploring themes such as body, memory, and identity, she invites the viewer to return to their own inner space. For Kurtoğlu, painting is a way of intuitively revealing what is difficult to express.
