Who is Güneş Özmen? (1982-Istanbul)In its most basic form, my starting point is nature; movement and infinite energy, the foundation of our existence. Movement brings with it momentary fluctuations. Therefore, the process of my work develops spontaneously. Momentary shifts in emotion, the time period I’m in, and the atmosphere surrounding me all play a role in the formation of my paintings. Everything emerges at that moment, when I step into the blank canvas. The power of my brush is linked to my mind’s tricks. It’s constantly changing yet confident. My works are created on strong, materially saturated surfaces. Texture plays a crucial role in my expression; it’s a tool for enhancing space and conveying it to the viewer. With the natural materials I use in my paintings, the remnants of nature’s influence from the past to the present, I open the doors to a newly constructed world.Education;2006-2008 Master’s Degree – Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting.
