Who is Ceren Demirbaş? (1996-Kütahya) Born in 1996 in Kütahya, Ceren Demirbaş discovered her interest in art at an early age. After graduating from Safranbolu Fine Arts High School in 2014, she continued her academic art education journey at Gazi University Gazi Faculty of Education Fine Arts Education Department Painting Education Department and graduated from there in 2018. With her passion for art and education, she completed her master’s degree in 2023 at the same university’s Institute of Educational Sciences. Demirbaş, who continues her artistic productions in individual workshops, also teaches painting in a private workshop. Her works meet with art lovers at national and international fairs and exhibitions. In her artistic practice, she has adopted a surrealist style that aims to reflect human psychology and inner world. She metaphorically addresses the individual’s state of mind, especially with the idea that faces with empty eyes reflect the inner world. The emptiness in the eyes emphasizes the changeability of identity and perception, while the images placed inside symbolize the past, memories, dreams and inner journeys. With his use of color and his understanding of composition, he produces works that both make the viewer think and establish an emotional connection. At the same time, he has expanded his work area by dividing his paintings into three parts with the background, facial expression and the emptiness of the eyes, creating independent surfaces in order to liberate artistic expression. Demirbaş aims to touch the individual and collective subconscious through art, and he strongly handles the themes of time, identity and emotion in his works.
