    • Who is Abdulkadir Göğüş? (1956-Adıyaman)Abdulkadir Göğüş was born in 1956 in the Besni district of Adıyaman. He has held 25 solo exhibitions and participated in nearly 200 group exhibitions. His works have been exhibited at art fairs in Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir. His artistic practice focuses entirely on watercolor. He draws inspiration from nature and focuses on local motifs. He strives to reflect Türkiye’s historical and cultural heritage and its unique and endangered regions. His striking watercolor compositions transport the viewer to an Anatolian village, the misty mountains of the Black Sea, or the magnificent landscapes of Istanbul. His works are held in collections both in Türkiye and abroad (the US, UK, Netherlands, and Chile).Art Perspective:His interest in painting began in his primary school years. At that time, drawing pictures of the houses, mountains, valleys, trees, streams, and people he saw in his hometown seemed instinctive. He drew on every white surface he saw. After moving to Ankara in 1978 for university, his most important social activity was visiting art galleries and meeting painters. Due to his employment as a civil servant and his current household circumstances, he turned to watercolor in his painting. This inclination led to his passion for watercolor. After a while, his longing for the land he lived in and his admiration for Istanbul led him to reimagine and paint images of his birthplace and Istanbul. Over time, the spirit of these paintings began to take shape. In this context, his artistic approach was based on transferring emotions, memories, and beauty from the local to the universal, from lived experiences to the present day. In his paintings, he meticulously ensures that elements such as color, perspective, and pattern within his artistic figures are accurate and appropriate, and this is essential. He creates paintings to achieve success in a challenging form of painting like watercolor and to achieve international recognition.
