The exhibition titled "Unending Tales with a Non-Existent", curated by Zeynep Öztürk and focusing on Neriman Oyman's 40-year artistic journey, will host art lovers at the Historical Hüsrev Kethüda Hammam until December 2.

The artist's paintings, which bring together her feelings and thoughts about nature, people, life, the world and the universe with different colors and combinations and reflect them on her canvas; It reveals the reflections of the joy or sorrow seeping from the lines of a poem, the pleasure or sorrow flowing from the notes of a piece of music transformed into an imaginary form, color, and pattern.

We talked to painter Neriman Oyman about both her artistic journey and her new exhibition.

- First of all, you have been working with painting for 40 years. You say that every brush stroke is a discovery. What kind of art do you think painting is? What aspect of it attracted you?

For me, it is a powerful means of communication, in other words, I provide this through art. I use this means of communication as a multi-colored, multi-voiced medium. Painting is not something that has become sick inside a canvas. These paintings of mine have a language and a universal structure. Because there is mythology in them. At the same time, they have troubles belonging to humanity. They have joys and sorrows. Painting is in a way my means of addressing the world.

- You are opening the exhibition “Bir Yokmuş’la Endless Tales”. Can you tell us a little about the exhibition?

I am also known as the painter of tales. These are the tales that I address to the whole world, setting out from these lands. In other words, when a person from the other side of the world comes across this tale, face to face, be sure that they will find pieces. That was what interested me there. In fact, what set me on this path was the question of how I could be close to people. I am a Eurasian, an Asian. More precisely, I am the face of Asia.

- The place where the exhibition will be held is the historical Kethüda Hamam. Does it have a special meaning?

It was a great surprise for me. I saw the place and it caught my incredible attention. There is an exotic texture. More precisely, what caught my attention is the historical texture there. It also coincided with my paintings. I created an atmosphere.

- You recently published a biography book. “The Woman Who Created Herself”. Would you like to talk about the book a little?

An artist and writer from İzmir, Mr. Ali Fuat Karaöz, worked for about a year and a half. He came to Istanbul and we conducted interviews for this book. We even went to the places where I lived, my childhood places, and houses. A book that resembled a novel emerged.

- Finally, is there anything you would like to say to our readers?

I am a storyteller. None of them came from behind Mount Kaf in a suitcase. They are all about life and in life. These stories do not end with once upon a time. Because as long as humanity continues, as long as the world turns, these stories will continue to live. As someone who believes in universality, I think that we should not forget nationality. I belong to these lands.
