Muzaffer Oruçoğlu's "Caryatids and Light Workers" exhibition will be exhibited in Çankaya between December 25-January 4. The painting exhibition includes portraits of working women and some writers from the world and Turkey.

The "Caryatids and Light Workers" exhibition by Muzaffer Oruçoğlu, one of the leaders of the 68 youth movement and painter-writer, will be exhibited in Çankaya, Ankara between December 25-January 4.

The paintings in the exhibition at the Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center Abidin Dino Exhibition Hall appear as the semi-abstract formation of different techniques the painter uses on canvas or cardboard.

The painting exhibition includes portraits of working women and some writers from the world and Turkey.

According to Oruçoğlu, this exhibition reflects the smile of life with all the sincerity and optimism of both mental and manual labor at a time when humanity was threatened by war. The paintings in the exhibition appear as the semi-abstract formation of the different techniques the painter used on canvas or cardboard.

Who is Muzaffer Oruçoğlu?
Writer, painter, sculptor. He was born on March 18, 1947 in the village of Büyük Zavot in the Göle district of Kars. Since there was no primary school in his village, he studied the first three years of primary school in the school of a neighboring village (Küçük Zavot), one year in his own village, and the last year in Kars. After graduating from Kars Middle School, he passed the teacher training exams and went to Rize Teacher Training School, and two years later to İstanbul Çapa Higher Teacher Training School. One year later, he entered the Mathematics and Astronomy department of the Faculty of Science.

Muzaffer Oruçoğlu was expelled from Çapa Higher Teachers’ School in 1967 due to a declaration he published against the American 6th Fleet. He participated in the 1968 student movements. In 1969, he participated in the land occupation in Değirmen Village and was arrested and sent to Silivri Prison. In 1972, he was among the founders of the TKP (M-L). In 1973, he was captured in Istanbul and sentenced to life imprisonment. He spent his years in captivity writing poetry and novels. After 13 years in captivity, he was drafted into the army. He escaped 40 days after the army in May 1986 and fled to Greece. He sought asylum in France. He started writing novels and painting again. His articles were published in political and literary magazines. He got married in 1988 and settled in Australia. He first completed a two-year painting and sculpture college (Greensborough TAFE COLLEGE - NMIT) on this continent. Later, he studied Painting and Sculpture at the PUBLIC ART department of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) for three years.

He has opened nearly seventy personal painting exhibitions in 6 countries so far. He has published a total of 44 books, including novels, poetry, fairy tales and political history. The 2011 Abdullah Baştürk Workers' Literature Award was given to his 4-volume novel Grizu.
