Who is Müşerref Rasim Köktürk? (1928-Bartın – February 3, 2020)

She was born in Kurucaşile in 1928. She was from the Kuşçuoğlu family in the Şile neighborhood of Kurucaşile. Due to her father Sadık Kuşçu’s civil service job, her childhood and schooling were spent in Safranbolu, İnebolu, and Zonguldak. She married Rasim Köktürk.

Müşerref Köktürk, who began her painting studies in 1959, conducted artistic research and studies in Paris between 1963 and 1964. She held her first solo exhibition in 1965 at the Ankara State Fine Arts Gallery of the Ministry of Culture. In 1962, she participated in the 23rd State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition with her work titled “Portrait”. Her painting “Cologne Cathedral,” exhibited at the 26th State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition, was purchased by the Istanbul Painting and Sculpture Museum following a letter of recommendation from the jury. In 1972, he was one of four artists sent by the Ministry of Culture to the 4th International Painting Festival held in France. In 1984, he received the 45th State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition Award. Some of his works were sent by the Ministry of Culture to exhibitions in Germany in 1985 and in Kuwait in 1992.

The artist, whose works are included in official and private collections, has successfully represented our country in important roles both domestically and internationally, in addition to his painting work.

She regularly participated in exhibitions of the United Painters and Sculptors Association and was one of four artists sent by the Ministry of Culture to the 4th International Painting Festival in Cagnes-sur-Mer (France) in 1972.

Her works were also sent by the Ministry of Culture to the “Contemporary Turkish Painting” exhibitions in Aix-en-Provence (France, 1971), Hannover (Germany, 1985), and Kuwait (1992).

Finally, she held a painting exhibition at the Bilkent University library exhibition hall in Ankara between November 18-22, 2011.

Painter Müşerref Köktürk passed away on February 3, 2020. She has books titled “Safranbolu”, “Ay Mavisi” and “Paletten Kaleme”.
