The exhibition, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, explores the challenges of urban life through art.
A Unique Exhibition Meets Art Lovers
The group art exhibition "Landscape in the Shadow of a Chaotic City," organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, met with art lovers at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) Gallery. With the motto "a search for existence in the shadow of urban chaos," the exhibition aims to deeply examine individuals' relationship with the concepts of city, nature, and culture.
Curator Figen Batı's Statements
Exhibition curator Figen Batı stated that this important work is the product of a two-year preparation process. Batı noted that the artists in the exhibition are sensitive to the themes and are interconnected.
Batı emphasized the exhibition's purpose by saying, "Unfortunately, the distance between nature, humans, and the city is increasing." "One of the fundamental concepts of our exhibition is 'landscape.' Each artist's unique perspective on this landscape can be interpreted as a reflection of the impact and emotion the city leaves on us," he said.
The Feeling of Entrapment in the Sera
Figen Batı drew attention to the feeling of entrapment felt by individuals living in cities, saying, "Our cities impose a burden on us, and we crumble under this burden, becoming artificial. However, nature is a part of humanity, and our works attempt to express the traces left on us by this relentless chaos."
The Agenda of Modern Art
Batı reminded us that questioning the relationship between the city, nature, and culture in the modern era is a dominant theme in contemporary art. "Landscape should be considered a reflection of the artist's inner vision. This concept explains our relationship with the city and ourselves," he continued.
Ground Zero of Hope
Addressing the differences in the impact of the relationship between nature and humans on artists, Batı said, "When I look at this chaotic landscape, my hope is high. No matter how far cities move away from us, we will create a truly livable environment."
The Search for Solutions
Batı also emphasized the difficulty of connecting cities with life and emphasized the importance of connecting with nature, saying, "What we find in our search for solutions expresses our normal existence."
