Cumhuriyet Art Gallery invites art lovers to a journey full of hope. The exhibition titled “Journey to Hope”, which will open its doors on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 18:00, brings together the paintings and ceramics works of master artist Filiz Onat with the audience. Born in Ankara in 1953, Filiz Onat began her artistic journey in 1968 with painting lessons from Lütfü Günay at the Turkish American Cultural Association. The artist, who exhibited her first work in a group exhibition the same year, accelerated her artistic journey with her first solo exhibition at the French Cultural Association in 1978. Onat, who graduated from the Ankara State Academy of Architecture and Engineering in 1975, where she received her architectural education, continued her painting and sculpture work without interruption while continuing her career as an architect.

The artist, who has signed over 45 solo and group exhibitions to date, has also taken her works to international art stages such as Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya, as well as Tokyo and Varna. Onat, who was deemed worthy of exhibition in the sculpture category in the State Painting and Sculpture Competition in 2023, also took part in important art fairs such as Art-Ankara and Art-Thessaloniki. “Journey to Hope” brings together Filiz Onat’s sensitive perspective that focuses on people and society with the balanced aesthetics she established between the abstract and the concrete. Crowds, inner journeys and light themes stand out in her painting and ceramic works. The exhibition will meet art lovers at Abidin Daver Sokak No:14 Çankaya / Ankara between April 18-30, 2025.
