İGA ART Gallery, the culture and art center of İGA Istanbul Airport, focuses on the daily life of city residents with the exhibition "Istanbulians" by Venezuelan artist Jesús Briceño Reyes, curated by Zarastro Art.

İGA Istanbul Airport, Turkey's gateway to the world, continues to host various events with the mission of being an art center where different cultures meet and interact.

The "Istanbulians" exhibition, organized in collaboration with the contemporary art platform Zarastro Art and İGA ART, features human landscapes through the eyes of Venezuelan artist Jesús Briceño Reyes.

In the exhibition at İGA ART Gallery at İGA Istanbul Airport International Terminal A-B Knuckle between 5 June and 31 July, Briceño Reyes tries to mirror the lives of Istanbulites, with whom he was briefly involved, with his works.

Stating that his aim with the "Istanbulians" exhibition is "To make us stop and think, to look more deeply at human experience, different cultures and the world," the artist reflects the daily life of the residents of the megacity and invites the viewer to take a closer look at the interactions of Istanbulites with each other and the city.

In the exhibition, works showing the outdoor areas stand out, depicting the waiting of people from different walks of life as well as various professionals. In his interior works, the artist focuses on different types of people we can see in public transportation vehicles.

Briceño Reyes, who captures the moments that interest him in indoor and outdoor public spaces in Istanbul with photography, works in black and white in order to emphasize the contrasts and show that they actually form a whole, using paper, a delicate material, to reveal the fragilities caused by the harsh conditions of life in his paintings. Consciously avoiding sketching, he adds timelessness to moments by inviting the viewer's imagination with the empty spaces he leaves on his canvas with an intuitive and improvisational approach.
