Young artist Gözde Atlas's personal painting exhibition titled "Sealed Time" has opened at the Asmalı Mescid Art Gallery in Beyoğlu, Istanbul.
Curated by Art Writer İbrahim Karaoğlu, the exhibition can be viewed until February 10. Gizem Günaçtı organized the exhibition with a contemporary and innovative perspective.
This exhibition by Gözde Atlas, a graduate of Gazi University's Department of Painting and Crafts Education, is her first in Istanbul. The young artist, who has participated in many international and domestic exhibitions, projects, fairs and workshops, offers art lovers a special selection of his works that have not yet been exhibited and that he has accumulated in the last five years of his artistic life.
Art Writer and exhibition curator Karaoğlu describes Gözde Atlas’s works with the following words:
"Some of our lives are mysterious areas sealed somewhere in nature. We often remember these places with the old taste of longing. The traces in the form of nature, old clouds and the grammars of the shapes we draw on the trunks of trees that make us experience ancient emotions are the witnesses of what we have forgotten there.
“Trees are temples. Those who know how to talk to them and listen to them learn the truth. They do not preach doctrines and prescriptions, they tell the ancient law of life without caring about individual things.” As Hermann Hesse says in his book “Trees”, Gözde Atlas’ paintings called ‘Sealed Time’ reminded me of these. Since the day I met Gözde; her subjects are trees and people. The silent language of people speaking to trees and trees speaking to people.
She creates paintings full of references to the innocence, magnificence and holiness of nature that embraces and envelops people. nature, what it has forgotten, its secrets, are engraved on an old time seal and as if it seals its paintings with traces of lost time…
Gözde shapes the painting cycle with images of tranquility and simplicity through the secrets of nature, the innocence of its form and the traces in its memory.
By making one feel the silent sighs and the most solitary states of nature; she transforms it into an abstract, mythical space and time mirror of a deep longing.
A non-traditional, contemporary passion for painting determines the existence of her art. She searches for her own style in pursuit of a fascinating painting. With intertwined images, she collects the earthly notes of nature’s hidden beauty and chaos in her works. There is a deep bond between her and nature, and she transforms her admiration for the diversity in nature’s endless cycle into a pictorial poem. With the expressive power of color, she creates balanced, harmonious and intense compositions. She creates each of her paintings by focusing on the processes of nature she sees from her inner world garden. With a graceful presentation, she makes one feel the beauty of small moments.”
