
Who was Prof. Dr. Gökhan Anlağan? (1943 Malatya – 2004 Istanbul)
His Life and Education:
Prof. Dr. Gökhan Anlağan was born in Malatya in 1943 and is one of the important figures in the generation of Turkish painting artists with an academic background. He came to Istanbul at a young age to complete his art education and studied at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Painting. He graduated from the academy in 1968. After graduation, he passed the Ministry of National Education exam and obtained the right to specialize in art in France between 1969 and 1973, during which time he continued his studies in Paris. His years in Paris were an important period for the artist, during which he had direct contact with the international art scene and developed his visual language. Returning to Turkey in 1973, the artist began his academic career and took up a position as an assistant in the Painting Department of the State Academy of Fine Arts. Continuing his academic work, he received the title of associate professor in 1994 and contributed to the field of art education for many years. As a continuation of the academic tradition, he later participated in academic production and education activities within Mimar Sinan University. He became a professor in 1999. Gökhan Anlağan passed away in Istanbul in 2004.
