The exhibition "The Map of Remembrance," which brings the silent objects of everyday life back to life through art, has opened its doors at the 6th District Art Gallery.
Beyoğlu Municipality has brought together art lovers with the exhibition titled "The Map of Remembrance," a collaborative work by Füsun Çağlayan, Gülden Artun, and Nur Özalp, prominent names in contemporary art, at the 6th District Art Gallery. The exhibition, which brings together collages, assemblages, and experimental works produced by the artists since the early 2000s, has received great acclaim.
THE HIDDEN MEMORY AND LIFE CYCLE OF OBJECTS
The exhibition, which focuses on the aesthetic values, experiences, and traces of time carried by the objects around us, The exhibition presents the approaches of three different artists to the concepts of memory, humanity, and identity through a visual language:
Füsun Çağlayan: In her works, she explores the instinctive connections between humanity, womanhood, and nature through the life-death cycle. Combining natural elements such as coffee, soil, salt, and leaves with the chemistry of pigments, the artist shapes her studio memory through collages and poetic narratives.
Gülden Artun: She takes everyday objects out of their contexts and directs them towards humanity and its psychological depths. Assemblages shaped by a variety of colors and textures make visible human weaknesses, desires, and pains, while giving objects almost a living character.
Nur Özalp: She participates in the exhibition with works from her “Belkis Series” and her 2011 exhibition “Cover.” Özalp, who created Belkis by printing discarded family photographs onto upholstery fabrics, questions domestic life, female identity, and class projections through letters, postcards, and fabric textures.
