The "Frida Kahlo: Forever Yours" exhibition, opened at New York Throckmorton Fine Art, bears the traces of Frida Kahlo's life and artistic journey. The collection, which includes previously unseen special moments of the artist, will be open to visitors until September 21.
The exhibition includes Kahlo's iconic portraits, taken between 1929 and 1951, and 50 photographs of fun moments taken with her husband, artist Diego Rivera, and her friends. The Frida Kahlo: Forever Yours exhibition, which includes Kahlo's creative process and intimate moments from her private life, is part of Spencer Throckmorton's collection. Photographs documenting Kahlo's life from her childhood to just before her death constitute only a small part of Spencer Throckmorton's huge collection.
Throckmorton has been collecting Kahlo's photographs since the 1970s, when he traveled to Mexico City in search of images of the artist. The collection has since grown to more than 200 photographs, making it one of the most comprehensive private collections documenting Kahlo's life. The gallery also includes several drawings and a blouse worn by the artist to complete the exhibition. Thus completes the visual biography of one of the most influential artists of the 21st century. Frida Kahlo: Forever Yours is on view at Throckmorton Fine Art in Manhattan until September 21, 2024.
