Who is Fikri Cantürk? (1933-2019)
He was born in 1933 in Karalar village of Ankara, and completed the first three years of his education in his village and the next two years at Hasanoğlan Village Institute Practice Primary School.
He graduated from Hasanoğlan Village Institute in 1952. In the same year, he was appointed as “Head Teacher” at Koparan Village Primary School near Ankara. In 1954, he entered the Gazi Education Institute Painting Department; He finished it in 1957. In 1957, he was appointed to Ernis (Alpaslan) Teacher Training School in Van’s Erciş district.
He went to the Reserve Officer School in 1958 and graduated with honors. He completed his military service as a reserve officer teacher at Mersin Petty Officer Training School in 1958-59. She worked at Beşikdüzü Teacher Training School for Girls in 1959-60, at Trabzon High School in 1961, and at Thursday Teacher Training School in Ordu province in 1962-65.
He passed away on April 30, 2019, leaving behind hundreds of works.

Academic Career
He was sent to France by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey in 1965-66. He made investigations and art works in Paris. In the same years, he made studies at the Dijon Teacher Training School and, together with a few friends, opened an exhibition at the University of Dijon, which introduced Turkey from a touristic and cultural perspective and attracted great attention of the people of Dijon.
On her return, she was appointed to Kütahya Girls Teacher Training School in 1997. He served as Workshop Chief and Training Chief. Cantürk, who was appointed to Samsun Education Institute in 1970, took part in the establishment of the Art Education Department and served as the Head of the Department for ten years. She completed her undergraduate studies in the Department of Art Education, which was later affiliated with Ondokuz Mayıs University, Faculty of Education, in 1983.
He worked as a part-time lecturer at Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts between the 1985 and 1988 academic years.
He became an associate professor in 1987. In 1989, he worked again at Anadolu University, Faculty of Education, Department of Art Education. He became a professor in 1993. Cantürk, who took on the position of Head of Department in 1992, continued this duty until his retirement. He retired in 1997.
Although Cantürk has recently devoted all his attention to painting, he has also been interested in literature as well as sculpture from time to time. Among his sculpture works, his works called "Atatürk Monument", which he executed in the garden of Kütahya Girls' Teacher Training School (1967) and in the garden of Atatürk Primary School (1968), can be mentioned.
