Who is Esin Büyükkalfa (1974 – İstanbul)
She was born in İstanbul, 1974 and graduated from Kadıköy Anatolian High School.
She completed her studies on Chemistry at İstanbul University, Faculty of Engineering in 1997 and gained her MBA degree at Bilkent University, Faculty of Administration, Ankara in 2000.
After spending corporate business years in Petrol Ofisi A.Ş, she started painting in order to achieve her childhood dream. She worked in various painting workshops between 2013-2017. While she was trying to improve herself, her path crossed with her teacher İclal Erentürk Güçsav’s, who greatly contributed to the enrichment of her art, at Eva Art Gallery in 2018. Since then, she has been working using different techniques such as powder pastel, oil pastel, charcoal and watercolor, as well as acrylic.
Art Perspective
“My art is the expression of my emotions. As my mood changes, colors of my palette and the drawings on my canvas change and improve as well. Art has no limits and doesn’t fit in molds. Sometimes I travel in an abstract world, sometimes I can not break up with the concrete facts of life. Sometimes the color of the sky, sometimes a music I hear inspires me and I follow the paths of a scent.
I try to reflect the richness of my inner world in my paintings as much as possible with the different techniques and materials I use. Art is a form of expression, an adventure with an uncertain ending. It’s sometimes a shout, sometimes a silent scream. I speak through my paintings. There is so much more I want to tell. I don’t know it yet either. I’m still discovering. This is an inner journey of mine. Touching the heart of the audience by creating a deep perception of atmosphere while nourishing emotions such as sadness, pain, love, tranquility and surrender. A journey of turning inward and discovering who we really are while questioning our existence and the purpose of coming to this world.
I’ll never stop thinking, questioning and producing until my physical presence in this world comes to an end. If I can leave a tiny line or a color of mine when I’m gone, which still makes people think of art, I’ll be the happiest soul…”
