Republic and Atatürk-themed artworks
The exhibition was curated by Prof. Dr. Tuba Gültekin, Director of the DEU Institute of Educational Sciences, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yurdagül Kılıç Gündüz, Deputy Director of the Faculty of Education. The exhibition featured works by faculty members and graduate students in the Department of Art Education, themed "Victory, Republic Day, Republic, and Atatürk." The works, created using oil, acrylic, linoleum, and woodblock printing techniques, portrayed the Republic's achievements through the lens of artists and educators raised in accordance with Atatürk's principles and reforms.
Topsümer: "Our Republic is our greatest asset"
Speaking at the opening, Prof. Dr. Füsun Topsümer stated that it was a source of pride to celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the Republic with art: “We are delighted to host this special exhibition as we celebrate the 102nd anniversary of our Republic. Our Republic is our greatest value. As our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who bestowed this value upon us, said, ‘A society without art has lost one of its vital arteries.’ I wholeheartedly thank all the young people who worked on this exhibition, which combines the Republic and art, the academics who contributed, and the administrative staff who were with us.”
Gültekin: “We made the achievements of our Republic visible through art”
Prof. Dr. Tuba Gültekin stated that the exhibition has gained a traditional identity over the years: “The Republic Day Plastic Arts Exhibition we organize every year has now become an institutional culture. These exhibitions are not merely artistic events; they are a shared consciousness that strengthens national unity, solidarity, and historical awareness. We aim to make visible the achievements of our Republic through the language of art and to instill historical awareness in our youth. We place great importance on the expression of emotions, thoughts, and ideals through art. As an institute, we will continue to cultivate productive individuals committed to national and spiritual values.”
Republican Awareness Through Art
Following the speeches, participants toured the exhibition, examined the works, and received information from student artists. The exhibition has earned its place in Ege University's cultural memory as one of the most meaningful artistic gatherings dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the Republic.
