As part of the 66th International Akşehir Nasreddin Hodja Festival, painter and art scholar Ebru Ceylan presented her exhibition "Talking Pictures" to art lovers at the historic church.

Speaking to our newspaper, Ebru Ceylan stated that the exhibition is Türkiye's first illustrative, album-supported art project. Ceylan explained that the project's foundation lies in bringing people from diverse backgrounds together around the same table through art. She emphasized that she has organized more than 40 exhibitions in her 10 years of work, and her works have been performed in 88 countries.

Ebru Ceylan explained that the "Talking Pictures" series features a wide range of important figures, from Turkish writers and theater founders to Anatolian bards and iconic characters from world tragedy. The final section of the exhibition continues with Turkish theater pioneers such as Cahide Sonku, Muhsin Ertuğrul, and Semiha Berksoy, as well as recent artists such as Ferhan Şensoy and Müşfik Kenter.

In her statement, Ceylan said, “This project is not just an exhibition; it combines narrated stories with music into an album, and it contributes to the Tema Foundation by donating saplings. In this respect, it also serves as a social responsibility project.”

Ebru Ceylan expressed her immense satisfaction with the reception in Akşehir, saying, “Usually, exhibitions with manifestos sometimes cause fear of being understood. But here, I encountered great public interest. Therefore, I wholeheartedly say, ‘We welcomed you.’”

The exhibition is open to both art lovers and visitors who wish to contribute to cultural memory.
