The Ayvalık Municipality's "The Great Other" exhibition combines the historical atmosphere of the venue with the striking narrative power of contemporary art, aiming to offer visitors a powerful visual and intellectual experience.
Mayor Mesut Ergin, who opened the exhibition at the Ayvalık Savoli Historical Contemporary Art Gallery, stated that Ayvalık has become a significant hub for contemporary art.
"It makes us proud to contribute from Ayvalık to the thought-provoking, transforming, and unifying power of art."
Ergin stated that the district is a city where many nationally and internationally recognized artists choose to live and produce. He said, "The positive image presented by the city's social structure, as well as its historical fabric, plays a significant role in this choice. The voluntary and dedicated contributions of internationally renowned artists to this exhibition are a great asset for our city. I sincerely thank the artists and our esteemed curator Beral Madra for bringing this valuable exhibition to Ayvalık. It makes us proud to contribute from Ayvalık to the thought-provoking, transforming, and unifying power of art. I invite everyone to see this unique exhibition."
The exhibition, curated by art critic, writer, and contemporary art curator Madra, awaits visitors until August 30th.
