Bauhaus at AKM: 'Ekol Tatbiki vol. 8' exhibition meets art lovers...
The "Ekol Tatbiki vol. 8" exhibition by the Ekol Tatbiki Art Collective opens at the AKM Music Platform from September 4-14, 2026. The exhibition brings together the Bauhaus approach with contemporary art production.
The long-standing tradition, kept alive by graduates and faculty members of the State Applied Fine Arts High School, is once again presented to art lovers with the "Ekol Tatbiki vol. 8" mixed exhibition. Curated by Berrin Aksu, the exhibition will welcome visitors at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) Music Platform between September 4-14, 2026.
The inheritors of the institution, which now continues its education under the name Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, aim to carry the multidisciplinary production culture nourished by the Bauhaus approach into the future with contemporary art works.
A Multidimensional Selection from 11 Different Disciplines
The exhibition brings together master and young generation artists working in many different fields such as industrial design, photography, traditional Turkish arts, graphic arts, sculpture, interior architecture, music, painting, ceramics and glass, film design and textiles under one roof.
Curator Berrin Aksu stated that the exhibition is an expression of a living tradition rather than a nostalgia for the past. Aksu said, "For us, 'Tatbiki' is not just the name of an old school. It is a culture that teaches thinking, producing and sharing together. 'Ekol Tatbiki vol. 8' is not a nostalgia for the past, but the present expression of a living tradition. A school is not just buildings; it is the people who keep it alive."
Interdisciplinary works by dozens of artists, including Mümtaz Işıngör, Devabil Kara, Güler Ertan, Erol Eti, Zehra Çobanlı, Yücel Dönmez and Atıf Atalayer, will be exhibited at AKM for 10 days.
