What is the Past is the Future Project?

The Past is the Future, which was launched in 2022 and consists of a book, exhibition and documentary, focuses on the daily lives and intellectual legacies of important intellectuals of the 20th century. Interviews with many thinkers such as Michael Löwy, Jacques Rancière, Franco “Bifo” Berardi, Gretchen Dutschke-Klotz, Tarık Ali, Peter Burke and Edgar Morin form the backbone of the project.

The interviews in question are recorded together with improvised drawings by painter Ayla Aksoyoğlu and transformed into a visual narrative. The first meetings of the project were held in Germany in 2023, then in France, the United Kingdom and Ireland. The last meeting was held with Jeremy Corbyn in London on January 23, 2025.

The project book, published on April 4, 2025 under the Ayrıntı Publications label, was introduced at a launch event held in Diyarbakır in April. Many intellectuals and academics from France, Sweden and Turkey attended the events.

Documentary on the Road

The documentary version of the Past is Future project is planned to meet the audience in 2027.
