
Who is Ayben Kaynar Tanır? (1979-İskenderun)
Born in 1979 in İskenderun, Kaynar Tanır graduated from the Fine Arts Education Department of Mustafa Kemal University, Faculty of Education, Department of Art Teaching program as the top student and the second in the faculty in 2000. Between 2000 and 2003, she worked as a permanent teacher affiliated with the Ministry of National Education at a primary school in Adana. She took important steps in her academic journey: In 2006, she received her specialization from Mustafa Kemal University, Department of Painting with her thesis titled “Exlibris with its Sources and Basis and an Exemplary Artist: Hasip Pektaş” and in 2014, she received her doctorate from Ankara University, Department of Fine Arts Education with her thesis titled “Applicability of the Art Teaching Original Printmaking Course in the Context of Postmodern Art Education: An Action Research”.
She worked as a research assistant at Mustafa Kemal University and Ankara University between 2003-2017, and as an assistant professor at the Department of Basic Art Education at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Ankara University between 2017-2020. Kaynar Tanır received the title of associate professor in 2020, and was appointed as an associate professor at the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Ankara University in 2024. Continuing his duties at the same institution, Kaynar Tanır continued his theoretical studies in art education as well as his studies in the field of printmaking during his doctorate. During this period, he took printmaking workshop courses at Anadolu, Hacettepe and Gazi Universities.
In 2010, he interned at the Green Door Printmaking Studio in Derby, England, within the scope of the Erasmus Internship Mobility. In 2023, with the TÜBİTAK 2219 postdoctoral research scholarship abroad, he conducted research and applications on natural pigments at the Ghent KASK/Conservatorium Art/Design and Biotechnology Experimental Laboratory in Belgium and on non-toxic printmaking techniques at the Ghent Visual Arts Academy Non-Toxic Printmaking Department. The artist, who has nine solo exhibitions and four awards, has had his works exhibited in national and international exhibitions. Kaynar Tanır is also a member of the Original Printmaking Artists Association and the Istanbul Ex-libris Association.
