At the event, paintings and sculptures by 125 artists will be open to visitors between 27 March and 5 April.

The works of 125 artists were included in the exhibition commemorating the Village Institutes, organized for the seventh time this year by Ankara Education Union Branch Platform. The works will be available to art lovers until March 5.

Making a speech at the opening of the exhibition, Eğitim-Sen Chairman Kemal Irmak said:

"VILLAGE INSTITUTE IS THE NAME OF A PRACTICE UNPRECEDENTED IN THE WORLD"

"Organizing this day in this way and making it a tradition, integrating these studies with the establishment of village institutes and their tradition is very meaningful and valuable for all of us. Because village institutes are the name of an unprecedented practice, an educational practice, in these lands, in Anatolia and in the world. In that respect, it is very precious and valuable. Now, it is actually a great flutter of wings of the children who left their villages with their tattered clothes in the 1940s. These children, who went to the village institutes with their wings broken, actually spread all over Anatolia with the education they received there and the traditions and culture they created. Village institutes are the name of a fluttering of wings called 'enlightenment' and the lighting of the torch of enlightenment. Village institutes are the means of spreading enlightenment, progressiveness, modernity, working, producing, being together, brotherhood, living in brotherhood, instead of reactionism, to every corner of Anatolia in these lands. Village institutes are the name of waking up with a different sun in Turkey. That's why these children left their homes with their torn clothes in their villages like a bird with broken wings, but they sewed and dressed the country in a beautiful dress called enlightenment.

Village institutes are, in a sense, the places where the struggle of education workers in these lands for the democratization of education, the revolutionary, democratic labor struggle, and the revolutionary teacher struggle actually began and was initiated.

"WE ARE STRUGGLE TO KEEP VILLAGE INSTITUTE'S EDUCATION PRACTICE ALIVE IN THIS LAND AGAIN"

Especially in that period, many of our educator friends were unfortunately murdered by fascist gangs during the enlightenment struggle of these education workers. So let's remember them once today. Today, we have very few living teachers from village institutes. We wish them a healthy life and old age. I remember and commemorate with respect and love our friends who spent their lives in the village institute and who continue this struggle today. Participation here today is really meaningful and it is very important to make it a tradition. We are also struggling to bring village institutes to the practice of education in these lands again. We may or may not become a foundation. But if we want to make a sentence about village institutes today, it is this: "This is a very long-lasting novel that is very enjoyable to read, and it is a symphony for us in this land that will never end."
