The "Attila İlhan Portraits Cartoon Exhibition" was opened in Galeri Alt, located on the ground floor of the Karşıyaka Municipality main service building, in cooperation with the Izmir Representative Office of the Cartoonists Association.
Karşıyaka Municipality, which declared 2025 as the 'Attila İlhan Culture and Art Year' due to the 100th birth anniversary of Attila İlhan, the great master of Turkish literature and the immortal value of Karşıyaka, is hosting a meaningful exhibition. The "Attila İlhan Portraits Cartoon Exhibition", prepared in cooperation with the Izmir Representative Office of the Cartoonists Association, was opened in Galeri Alt, located on the ground floor of the Karşıyaka Municipality Main Service building. During the opening ceremony, which was held with the participation of citizens and artists, certificates of participation were presented to the cartoonists whose works were in the exhibition. In the exhibition; The works prepared by cartoonists who continue their work in Turkey and abroad, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Attila İlhan, include traces of the life and literary world of the master writer.
Karsiyaka Mayor Yıldız Ünsal said, “We are very proud to dedicate the year 2025 to the master poet Attila İlhan, who left an indelible mark on the cultural memory of our Karşıyaka, and to declare this year as the ‘Year of Attila İlhan’. It is a common happiness for all of us to commemorate a master like Attila İlhan with art in the city of his birth, in a manner befitting his vision. With this exhibition, which we have brought to life with the İzmir Representative Office of the Cartoonists Association, we both honor our master poet and offer a literary and intellectual heritage to the young generations. We will continue to work for a stronger Karşıyaka with art, thought and the values of the Republic.” The exhibition was curated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cem Güzeloğlu said, “Karşıyaka Municipality dedicated 2025, the birth year of Attila İlhan, to him, and we wanted to contribute as much as we could as cartoonists. I would like to thank Cartoonists Association Izmir Representative Cem Koç, all cartoonist friends and Karşıyaka Municipality for their support of this valuable work.”
The exhibition, which consists of over 40 portrait cartoons reflecting the multifaceted identity of the master writer and created by artists from different perspectives, salutes Attila İlhan’s 100th birthday through art. Inviting art lovers to an intellectual journey, the exhibition can be visited every weekday between 08.30-17.30. The exhibition will remain open until June 30, 2025.
