In Trabzon, an oil painting exhibition called 'Traces on Canvas' organized in memory of painter Abit Güner was presented to the attention of art lovers. Mayors emphasized that Güner's name should be kept alive.
An oil painting exhibition called "Traces on Canvas" was opened in Trabzon in memory of painter Abit Güner.
In the exhibition organized by Trabzon Art House, the works made by Güner's female students were presented to the appreciation of art lovers.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç pointed out that Trabzon is a city rich in history, culture and art.
Stating that they will keep Güner's name alive in suitable areas to be determined in the city, Genç said, "Let's keep Abit Hoca's name alive forever in a beautiful place in our Ortahisar Municipality, Yomra Municipality, district municipalities. These names are not easily obtained. How lucky are those here who became his students. His legacy is your responsibility, and keeping his name alive is our responsibility. We will do that too, God willing."
Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya also stated that Güner is one of the first names that comes to mind in oil paintings, and noted that he left behind very beautiful works.
Aysun Şahin, who coordinated the exhibition and is Güner's student, thanked Güner for what he taught her.
The exhibition can be visited until Friday, May 23, accompanied by the songs Güner likes to listen to while painting.
Yomra Mayor Mustafa Bıyık, Trabzon Art House Executive Board President Adnan Taç, as well as Abit Güner's son Can Güner and many art lovers attended the opening.
