    • Who is Özgür Çağlar Yılmaz? (Born 1992, İzmir)Born in İzmir in 1992, Özgür Çağlar Yılmaz’s interest in and curiosity about art began in childhood; he later turned his focus toward painting and drawing during high school, transforming this interest into a conscious creative process. This period marked the beginning of art evolving from a mere hobby into an intellectual and academic pursuit for him. Following an academic preparatory period prior to his fine arts education, he began his undergraduate studies in the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (Bodrum campus), successfully graduating in 2015.That same year, Yılmaz completed his pedagogical formation training at the Faculty of Education at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, further developing his academic background in art education. In 2019, he completed his master’s degree in the Painting Program at the Institute of Social Sciences of the same university with a thesis titled “Primitive Transmission and Formal/Anti-formal Influences in the Art Process.” This thesis provided the academic foundation for his research into the relationships between form, formlessness, material, and composition—elements that underpin his artistic practice.Having participated in various projects to date, Yılmaz has exhibited his work in four solo exhibitions, seven competition and special exhibitions, and twenty-seven group exhibitions. He continues his artistic production both through exhibitions and projects and within his own studio space, structuring his practice around intellectual inquiry and original compositions based on material and form. The intellectual foundation of his work lies in the coexistence of opposing structures—such as chaos and order—within the cosmos. For the artist, these contrasts are not mutually exclusive; rather, they are elements that define and transform one another within a unified whole. The interplay of action and reaction between humanity and nature also forms a significant part of this structure. Yılmaz renders this conceptual framework visible through narrative, form, layering, surface, and material; in his works, every element finds its place within a deliberate composition and structure.Özgür Çağlar Yılmaz continues his artistic practice at his own Art İki Studio in Bodrum, Muğla.
