Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu’s exhibition "Aşk Dediğin," which explores the concepts of love and affection, is open to visitors at Futy Art Gallery from September 29 to October 20, 2026. The exhibition features over 70 works by the artist that focus on the various facets of love and affection.

Futy Art Gallery has launched its new season with Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu’s exhibition "Aşk Dediğin." The exhibition, which began on September 29, will remain open until October 20, 2026.

The exhibition, centering on the concepts of love and affection, showcases more than 70 artworks. In these pieces, Ekşioğlu addresses the different forms of love and affection through his unique visual language and symbolic imagery.

Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu’s artistic journey:

Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu, whose first work was published in 1977, has created art inspired by humanity, nature, and daily life throughout a career spanning nearly 50 years.

Ekşioğlu began his artistic education with the desire to become a painter and pursued his studies in the Graphic Arts Department of the School of Applied Fine Arts. Developing his practice within the fields of graphic arts and illustration, the artist has employed various symbols and images across different periods of his work.

Images such as ladders, cliffs, the sea, cups, books, birds, cats, umbrellas, stars, and the moon are among the recurring elements in Ekşioğlu’s work. The artist also incorporated these images into exhibitions centered around various themes.

His work has appeared in international publications.
Ekşioğlu’s illustrations have been published in various outlets outside of Turkey. In addition to cover art created for *The New Yorker*, his work has appeared in publications such as *The New York Times* and *Forbes*.

Some of Ekşioğlu’s works have also been released as postcards by UNICEF.

The exhibition focuses on love and affection.
In the exhibition titled "Aşk Dediğin" (What You Call Love), the artist focuses on the concepts of love and affection. Ekşioğlu interprets these concepts—which have been explored across various eras and forms—through his own unique visual language.

The exhibition draws inspiration from poetic expressions and quotes regarding love and affection from diverse eras and cultures. By referencing quotes on love attributed to Albert Einstein, Louis Aragon’s phrase "There is no happy love," and verses by the poet Âşık Veysel, the artist brings various interpretations of love into his work.

In the pieces created with this approach, human relationships, emotions, and personal experiences emerge alongside love as integral parts of the visual narrative.

The "Aşk Dediğin" exhibition is on view at Futy Art Gallery until October 20, 2026.
