Featuring works by artists from diverse disciplines and production practices, the “Encounters Vol. 1” exhibition has opened at 42 Maslak. Encounters Vol. 1 redefines the relationship between art and design by bringing together different disciplines in public spaces.
"Encounters Vol. 1" is the first in a series of exhibitions that redefines the relationship between contemporary art and public space, and it opens at 42 Maslak. The exhibition takes the artwork out of familiar spaces and into a realm of encounter intertwined with the daily life within the corridors and common areas of 42 Maslak.
The Encounters Vol. 1 selection features 39 artists from different disciplines and production practices; Agah Barış Can Aksakal brings together Arif Çekderi, Ayfer Kalsın, Bahar Posta, Başak Erdem, Batuhan Yaşar Cebli, Büşra Kölmük, Çetin Pireci, Deniz Pireci, Devabil Kara, Emel Vardar, Eylül Deniz, Erdem Akan, Gökçe Er, İmdat Avcı, İsmet Doğan, Kadir Akorak, Kazım Karakaya, Kerim Kılıçarslan, Mark Erhan Geçim, Mehmet Çelik, Mehmet Günyeli, Mert Çıkılmazkaya, Muzaffer Tuncer, Okan Ünal, Pınar Kuseyri, Raşit Metehan Acehan, Riella D. Barut Yakar, Sanem Tufan, Sedef Soylu, Seçil Erel, Sevinç Köseoğlu Ulubatlı, Seydi Murat Koç, Sultan Adler, Şule Zeybek, Tamer Aydın, Tuba Aydın, Yiğit Yazıcı and Zekiye Şentürk.
A NEW PERSPECTIVE
Esmer Erdem, creator of the "Encounters" exhibition, which came to life under the coordination and presentation of Artful Living, stated: “The exhibition treats public space not merely as a physical transitional space, but as an intellectual ground where meaning is produced and evaluated from a new perspective. Aiming to transform the viewer from a passive observer into the subject of the encounter, Encounters Vol. 1 realizes the potential to transform everyday interactions into a conscious aesthetic experience. It makes visible the interdisciplinary relationship established between the intellectual layers of design and the intuitive language of art through the powerful material touches of creativity. The “Encounters” series, which will continue with selections changing monthly for a year, will be conceived as a sustainable cultural program in the field of design and art on the 5th floor of 42 Shops.”
The first selection of works by 39 artists from the Encounters Project, the exhibition “Encounters Vol. 1,” can be viewed every day of the week until March 25, 2026, on the 5th floor of 42 Shops.
