The Çankaya Municipality Contemporary Arts Center is hosting the "Memory of Color, Soul of the Brush" exhibition of İbrahim Çallı, a pioneer of Turkish painting. The exhibition, featuring 67 of Çallı's works, will be open to visitors until December 31st.

Çankaya Municipality is commemorating İbrahim Çallı, a leading figure in Turkish painting and a master painter, with a grand exhibition. The "Memory of Color, Soul of the Brush/A Passionate Life Lived with Colors: İbrahim Çallı" exhibition opened to art lovers at the Contemporary Arts Center on December 2nd. The exhibition, undertaken by Project Director Fahri Özdemir, brings the traces of the past to the present with 67 works collected from nearly 40 collectors across all the galleries of the art center. Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu and his wife Elvin Beşikçioğlu attended the opening. The Beşikçioğlu family, who also contributed to the project as collectors, were guided by Fahri Özdemir during their exhibition tour, accompanied by Çankaya Municipality Deputy Mayors Mesut Akıncı, Aydın Özsoy, and Anıl Çetin.

Speaking at the opening, Deputy Mayor Mesut Akıncı said, "Today, I am very happy to be with you at the opening of this exhibition, which brings together the works of İbrahim Çallı, one of the greatest masters of Turkish painting. İbrahim Çallı is a libertarian and innovative artist who shaped the vision and cultural structure of the Republic. Therefore, I am greatly honored to be touring this exhibition with you here at the Çankaya Municipality Contemporary Arts Center. I thank you all and hope to see you at many more openings and exhibitions."

"The Memory of Color, The Soul of the Brush," an exhibition inviting visitors to understand the Turkish Revolution of the Republican Era, its evolution, development, and the connections between generations, aims to convey Çallı's artistic journey through a special selection ranging from portraits and landscapes to figurative narratives and naturalist interpretations.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge at the Contemporary Arts Center throughout the week from 09:00 to 20:00 until December 31st.

AN ARTISTIC NARRATIVE OF AN ERA: İBRAHİM ÇALLI

Born on July 13, 1882, in Çal, Denizli, İbrahim Çallı is one of the leaders of the group of artists known as the "1914 Generation," considered a brilliant turning point in Turkish painting. His Impressionist style, color palette, free brushstrokes, balance of light and shadow, and figurative expression shaped the artistic understanding of the period; he is particularly known for his mastery in portrait and landscape painting. Furthermore, he contributed to the training of many artists by teaching at the State Academy of Fine Arts for many years.
