The "Illustrated Flora of Turkey, Volume 17," organized under the auspices of the Presidency, in collaboration with the Flora Research Association and the Ali Nihat Gökyiğit Foundation, and in coordination with the Nezahat Gökyiğit Botanical Garden, has opened in Ankara.
The exhibition, held in an Ankara shopping mall, features detailed images of plant species belonging to the "carnation" family in the 17th volume, prepared as part of a project to record vascular plant species naturally growing in Turkey.
In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı stated that the work depicts Turkey's plants not only through their names, but also through their patterns, colors, and memories.
Yazgı emphasized that the project is the most comprehensive flora publication in Turkey, saying, "This work is not just a botanical guide; it is a memory project that passes Turkey's biological heritage to future generations."
Selçuk Tuğrul Körüklü, President of the Flora Research Association, stated that similar exhibitions for other plant groups may be opened in the future.
Professor Adil Güner, editor-in-chief of the Illustrated Flora of Turkey, stated that the flora was initially planned to be 30 volumes, but the aim is to expand this number to 62 volumes in the future.
